Post-Publication Discussion

Purpose of discussion

MESIL welcomes constructive scholarly discussion of published articles. A discussion may raise methodological questions, alternative interpretations, limitations, reanalysis, or scholarly comments that help readers understand an article’s contribution and limitations.

Submitting a comment

Comments must be professionally written, focus on scholarly substance, identify the article being discussed, and provide supporting evidence or references. Personal attacks, discriminatory language, unlawful material, or unsupported allegations may be rejected. Comments should be submitted through the journal system or its official editorial contact channel.

Assessment and author response

The editor assesses the relevance and scholarly quality of a comment and may invite the original article’s authors to respond. If accepted for publication, the comment and response may be reviewed, edited, and linked to the article so that readers can see the discussion in context. A post-publication comment does not replace the formal procedure for reporting suspected research misconduct.

Limitations

Submission of a post-publication comment does not guarantee publication. If a comment raises a possible substantive error or ethical breach, the editor will determine whether further action is required under the relevant policy.
